Artie, it sounds like you don't know what it really feels like to have grown up and lived a life as someone who does not benefit from white/male/straight/upper-middle class privilege. I don't either. Sometimes a friend or acquaintance who does not share my "privileges" says something that makes me feel defensive, frustrated, or exasperated. That's when I know that opportunity is knocking. It is the opportunity to listen as deeply and quietly as I can, to shut down the voice inside that wants to analyze or debate and to just listen.

Is that resonating at all?
